Polish culture outlet WP Kultura published a review of the reportage book “Wojna naszych czasów” (War of Our Times), released in November 2023 by Studio Magenta. The publication brings together ten accounts written by four journalists and reportage authors: Arleta Bojke, Michał Owerczuk, Tomasz Piechal, and Maria Kądzielska-Koper.
The book centers on Domowa Noclegownia at Łazienkowska 14 in Warsaw, a shelter run by the “Oczami Nieba” foundation in the lower space of a church for more than a year and a half following the events of February 24, 2022. The texts portray both Ukrainian refugees who passed through the facility and the volunteers who assisted them, accompanied by photographs taken by Jakub Szymczuk.
According to the review, the volume explores three primary threads: the generosity of Poles and evolving Polish-Ukrainian relations, the horror of war and the realities of life in Ukraine, and the role of personal faith and spirituality among those involved.
