Michał Owerczuk has announced that his film Broken Arrow has been officially selected for the AI Film Awards Cannes 2026. The selection marks his second consecutive year at the festival on the Côte d’Azur, following what he described as a turning point the previous year.

Owerczuk emphasized that Broken Arrow was crafted with technology available the previous summer. Despite the rapid evolution of generative tools, he noted that the film’s recognition reinforces the importance of craft over fleeting technology. Owerczuk spent two months working on every frame, prioritizing story, intention, and directorial control rather than rapid production.
In his announcement, Owerczuk credited tools and collaborators including ComfyUI, Vidu AI, ElevenLabs, Topaz Labs, Fairground, Machine Cinema, and Massimo Benvegnú, looking ahead to returning to Cannes in May for both the AI Film Awards and the Cannes Festival & Marché du Film.
